Congregation Schomre Israel Welcomes Rabbi Eliezer and Lucy Langer

Congregation Schomre Israel is happy to announce that Rabbi Eliezer Langer will begin serving as the congregational rabbi beginning September 2014. Rabbi Langer brings to our community a wealth of experience as a pulpit rabbbi having served congregations in Austin, Texas; San Diego, California; Albany, New York and Oshawa, Ontario. He and his wife Lucy have lived in Israel where he served as assistant dean of Midreshet Moriah, a post high school program for women, in Jerusalem. He is an experienced teacher who has taught at many different levels. He has been a lecturer at the college and university levels, taught teenagers and high school students, and he has taught classes for his congregants and the community. He and his wife Lucy directed a nursery program in Albany which grew to become Maimonides Hebrew Day School. Rabbi Langer comes to Congregation Schomre Israel from Austin, Texas where he served as rabbi of Tiferet Israel Congregation. He received semicha from Rabbi Isaac Elchanan Theological Seminary of Yeshiva University. We are happy to welcome them to our community.
